Baby, Baby, Baby [Round 8, Chapter 60, Epstein]

“Sorry I grabbed the last plate of grilled fruit,” said Laurel as she forked more into her mouth. “I didn’t realize that’s all you were eating. You’ve got three babies in there, you should really eat something more substantial.”

Daniella gave Laurel the side eye, but took a deep breath to calm herself before responding.

“I was trying to eat healthy,” said Daniella. “Everything in the fridge is fried or covered in butter or inside of a flaky crust. I love your cooking, but I want to give myself the best chance to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight as soon as the babies come.”

“You’ll wish you had those carbs for energy when it comes time to deliver.”

Daniella opened her mouth to respond, but was silenced by an intense pain in her belly.

“We’ll see really soon if you’re right about that,” said Daniella. “I think the babies are coming now!”

Before she could think or blink, Quincy had her whisked off to the hospital. The same doctor that delivered Laurel’s last three kids and Carmen’s son was there.

Daniella looked supremely uncomfortable. Quincy looked supremely excited.

Daniella was given a hospital gown to change into and escorted to the delivery room. Quincy came running in a panic shortly after she got setup on the table.

“Did I miss it? Am I a daddy yet?”

She looked at him from the table. “You haven’t missed anything yet, don’t worry.”

“Don’t worry? Don’t worry?! We’re about to have triplets! Triplets! Do you know how many babies that is, sugar lump?”

“It’s three, and we have a plan, we’ll be okay–”

Her words were interrupted because she went briefly unconscious. Quincy almost lost his mind.

“Put it back! Put it back! You’re supposed to remove babies, not a heart!”

The doctor put the heart back where she got it, and Daniella regained consciousness. A loud whirring to her left drew her attention. The random glue bottle alarmed her, but Quincy felt calm now that nothing else could be accidentally removed.

“I officially give up,” said Daniella as glue started randomly squirting everywhere. “I hope you know I’m never going through this again,” she said to Quincy.

Laurel sat and waited for news about the babies. She knew the birth of multiples for a first time mother could be difficult. It didn’t help that the main doctor for deliveries in the area never seemed to be able to figure out the birthing machine. She wasn’t worried, but she just wanted to hear good news, and she wanted to hear it now.

Laurel thought about her years as a mother. When Quincy was born, Laurel and Kurt were still teenagers, and when they had Robyn, they were barely Young Adults. Laurel always felt so young around the other mothers, like she’d done something shameful by having kids so young. With the twins, she hit the sweet spot and was the same age as the other mothers. With Emilie, she noticed the mothers were starting to be younger than her.

She still felt so young herself though. Even with a birthday party coming up, the thought of having more babies still lingered in the back of her mind. Lots of Sims had babies as Adults. Laurel couldn’t think of anyone she knew that had kids younger than their grandkids though. As much as she loved babies, there was something wonderful about having 100% of your children able to feed and watch themselves. Emilie’s birthday was the same day as hers and Kurt’s. Did she really want to go backwards to the land of diapers and potty training?

Before she could decide, her phone rang. Quincy called to tell her she was a grandmother three times over. Laurel couldn’t wait to meet Hannah, Henry, and Hailey Epstein.

Laurel hung up the phone with a large smile on her face. She had so much in her life right now. Between her already large family, planning for the slew of birthdays coming up in said large family, the Counsel Council, and her new grandbabies, she felt full. She put the thought of any Try for Baby interactions out of her head.

Later that week, it was time to partay! Laurel was in the kitchen, whipping up the perfect birthday cake. She knew it had to be a good one since she was sharing it with her husband and youngest daughter. She hummed to herself and pulled out all her fancy home chef moves.

As she cooked Laurel thought about her baby girl Emilie. She had so much personality as a toddler, so Laurel couldn’t wait to see who she’d be as a child. It was fitting in a way, that Laurel’s and Kurt’s youngest was aging up at the same time as them. The entire family was entering a new phase of their lives, and they were doing it together.

Laurel finished the cake, added the candles, put the cake in the fridge until the next day, then readied the rest of the house for the party. Even with a butler to help, there was still so much to do. Kurt soon arrived home from work with good news. He finally got promoted to Vice-President!

In order to make the move to Oasis Springs, he’d given up his old job in Bridgeport. He started from the bottom, back in the plum mailroom. But he’d finally earned his way up. He would now make enough money to cover all the bills of the house, no more eating into the inheritance to keep the lights on.

Kurt saw his three oldest daughters outside, staying out of their mother’s way as she put the finishing touches on the party that was in two days. He announced his promotion to them, asking, “who’s the man?”

“Daddy, we’re happy you got a better job, but nobody says that anymore,” said Brooklyn.

“Oh really? What do they say then?”

“She wouldn’t know,” interrupted Robyn with a chuckle. “And besides, you’re the best daddy in the world, so you can say whatever you want.”

“Suck up,” whispered Brooklyn.

“Hey guys,” said Bianca, “mom said we have to do our homework before dinner.”

“We have to get inside then,” said Robyn. She looked down at her sisters, “who wants to race inside?”

“Race? But we’re not supposed to–,” started Brooklyn.

“Already ahead of you!” Bianca had already taken off towards the house before Brooklyn could finish her sentence.

Brooklyn and Robyn raced after her and up the stairs. All three girls headed to Robyn’s bedroom so they could do their homework and stay out of their mother’s way.

  1. Ooh I loved seeing Laurel’s thoughts in this one! And welcome to the triplets! Those names are so cute. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the twins, so I loved seeing them in this one too. And I have to agree with Jess about Quincy kinda looking older than his dad haha but I also actually like that a lot too 😛

Your neighborhood is going to be overrun with all these Epsteins! 😛

  2. It wa snice to see a little bit about pregancy and such with Laurel..gave some perspective! And I just noticed that there’s going to be a lot of girls in the house! I can only imagine how is it going to be with Henry growing up..Congrats on the triplest, tought!

    1. This seems to be the Epstein way, lol. In Laurel’s house of 6, there’s only Kurt. In Quincy’s house of 5, there will be just him and Henry.

Should be fun to see triplets in the house though!

    1. Yeah, they do look a lot alike. Quincy and the baby girl Emilie look identical to Kurt (seriously I tested it, I turned Kurt into a teenage girl and she looked like she could be teen Emilie’s twin).

The twins Brooklyn and Bianca are kind of a mix. The dark haired Brooklyn leans more towards Laurel and the redhead Biana leans towards Kurt.

Now say what now about Quincy and his dad?

      1. Oh yes I can tell Emilie is going to be a Kurt clone lol.
Kurt has a nice youthful appearance between his hair out and every day outfit. I like it! But Quincy’s current look is more “dad like” than his actual dad. However, I guess with a bunch of little girls at home, he wants to remain “cool?”

      2. Oh, lol, yes I get it now. Quincy has been wearing that sweater since he was a Teen, but now that he’s a dad, it does sniff of Cliff Huxtable, haha.

It makes sense on accident though because Kurt was a teen father, and so he never had a real moment to consciously transition to adulting, whereas Quincy has been planning most of his life for the current situation he’s in. It kinda works if I shoehorn it in there!

      3. It’s the hair! The sweater was normal before, but the hair makes the Huxtable look lol. I like this idea about Kurt though. It totally works.

  3. Oh my god, triplets? I died when I first had triplets. They always cried in unison and it felt like my sim worked at a factory with the continuous motions of feeding, diaper changing and rocking the babies 😥
I sure love a full, busy house Laurel’s, though 🙂

    1. There are definitely baby factory moments in an upcoming chapter, haha.

There’s so many Epsteins and it’s hard to give them all screen time, but I really love this family, and I get excited to tell their story.

  4. Such a huge houseful of children! And wow triplets. That’s going to be a challenge. Did you get the parenthood pack? Good luck! Haha! Funny, I didn’t like Laurel at first, but she changed a lot. I thought she was going to have all kinds of issues and she would leave Kurt. So glad she didn’t.

    1. Laurel took a long time to find herself, like so many Young Adults I know. I’m glad she’s growing on people. She really had the potential to be a mess, didn’t she?

Yes, triplets, I was like, “whaaaaaa? why tho?” when I first found out haha. I’ve got parenthood, and I’m really looking forward to watching Quincy and Daniella try to parent three kids. We see a lot of Daniella’s opinion of how the Epsteins raised their kids this round. We shall see if she was hasty in her judgements, lol.

    1. I did get parenthood. It’s going to be so fun to see Quincy and Daniella with the triplets using all the interactions.

And I’m glad Laurel has grown on you. She still had so much growing up to do when the story first started, but I think the age phase Adult will suit her really well.

      1. Oh yes, she comes very highly recommended by Carmen. She likes everyone, but she’s not close to everyone.

But I agree with you that the club helped focus Laurel. I think it gave her a real secondary purpose outside of her family. No more random emotional affairs for her!
